Dental Implants are quickly becoming the standard of care for replacing missing teeth in the mouth. For years the only way to replace missing teeth in the mouth was to either place cemented bridges (which could have meant the loss of significant tooth structure to the teeth left to hold the bridge and also can create a difficult are to keep clean) or to use a removable partial denture (which many patients have found to be a poor compromise to a cemented bridge). Dr Maya is having a special through the rest of the year. Implants can be placed for as low as $1000 per implant placed (this does not include the cost of the restoration on top of the implant).

We are often asked why missing teeth should be replaced. Actually, this is not a simple question to answer as it is dependent on each individual patient’s needs and the location of the missing tooth to be replaced. Missing teeth can be cosmetic issues so the implant and crown are done to match the mouth and smile and your esthetic concerns are answered. This is the simple straight forward reason implants are such a great restorative procedure.

However, replacing missing teeth have many functional purposes as well. The replacement of missing teeth stops other teeth from shifting and creating problems for the bite and normal function and in some cases can lead to jaw joint disease. The replacement teeth can assist in proper chewing which allows for a healthy and improved diet. Replacing missing teeth can also improve your speech and in many cases provide the support for natural facial contours. Lastly, replacing missing teeth using implants can help decrease bone and gum tissue loss associated with missing teeth.

Special pricing for implants can run as low as $1000 per implant. There may be additional fees if any type of grafting is needed to help make sure you get the best result possible. Also, there are additional fees for the crowns that go on top of the implants.

Call us today at (818)762-0105 today for your complimentary consultation to see if implants are right for you.

I had a patient today that was interested in Invisalign because of some crowding on her lower teeth. She wanted to look better in pictures and said that it affected her self confidence. I informed her that it would definitely help with that but that it would also help with her overall health. When she heard that, she was a little surprised and asked, “How will it help with my overall health?” I told her that it would greatly improve the health of her gums and that in turn would help her heart health.

It has been well documented that gum disease is related to heart disease. Gum disease involves inflammation and infection that destroys the tissues that support the teeth, including the gums, the periodontal ligaments, and the tooth sockets. Gum disease is due to the long-term effects of plaque deposits. Plaque is a sticky material made of bacteria and food debris that develop on the exposed parts of the teeth. It is a major cause of tooth decay and if you do not remove plaque, it turns into a hard deposit called tartar. The tartar becomes trapped at the base of the tooth and irritate and inflame the gums. Bacteria and the toxins they produce cause the gums to become infected, swollen, and tender.

This can all be prevented by good oral hygeine and visiting your dentist regularly. However, when a patient has crowding on their teeth, it is almost impossible to clean and floss the teeth properly. Invisalign will help straighten those teeth and will in turn make it much easier to keep your gums healthy.

So not only will Invisalign make you look better with straight teeth, it will also aid in prevention of other health problems and keep you healthier!

Chewing is something that is done without thinking about it. When that simple movement causes excruciating pain, there is cause for concern. This can be caused by temporomandibular joint disorder, often abbreviated to TMJ. It affects the muscles that are used when chewing and those connecting the skull and the lower jaw. Pain in the jaw often shoots up and a headache starts. Dr. Maya and his Studio City dental office can provide high level dental care that eliminates these headaches.

Most TMJ symptoms are caused by the strain on the structures around the joint including the teeth. The precise cause of TMJ goes undiagnosed in many patients. However, one thing that is known to cause it is a bad bite, and the habit of grinding the teeth at night. However, not all teeth grinders have TMJ. When it is caused by a bad bite, patients can experience a headache, cracked teeth, strained mouth movements and a click or pop when the mouth is moved.

TMJ can usually be managed many different ways, including using relaxing and stretching exercises around the jaw to remove the tightness causing the pain. Massage is commonly used to do this. Heat and cold packs, as well as pain medication may be used. At our Studio City dental office, we have found a way to prevent TMJ headaches by taking care of the dental problems that cause them. We do this by examining the teeth using a digital x-ray machine that clearly shows the teeth in great detail. We also look at the nerves and gums to see what could be causing the pain that moves upwards and is felt as a headache.

Dr. Maya is able to find the underlying problem which would have been impossible to detect using standard strength x-rays. We employ a number of methods to take care of the problem, depending on what the problem is. Dr. Maya may decide to use Invisalign to correct a poor bite, put in a nightguard, or Botox treatment for your TMJ.

Many patients have found lasting relief from TMJ headaches once the dental problems have been taken care of by Dr. Maya. He is doing what other Studio City dentists may choose to refer to other dentists.

Please call our Studio City office for a free consultation! Dr. Maya will be happy to help you with your TMJ problem.
